Sophie and Gordon Novinsky, of Ellicott City, announce the engagement of their daughter, Rebecca Novinsky, to Bret Cohen, son of Sherry and Saul Cohen, of Silver Spring.

The bride-to-be is a 2001 graduate of Wilde Lake High School. She received her bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of Maryland. She is employed with the Resnik Group, in Bethesda.

The future groom received degrees in computer science and management information systems from the University of Maryland in 2005. He graduated from George Washington University Law School in 2008 with high honors. He is an associate attorney at Hogan & Hartson in Washington.

A summer 2009 wedding is planned.
