Erin Eve, of Columbia, daughter of Tracy and Derek Eve, was awarded the University Scholarship to attend Frostburg State University. She is a 2008 graduate of Hammond High School.

The Special Olympics of Howard County announces the winners of its $1500 scholarship for 2008: Stephen Schnorf, winner of the Jackie Burk Memorial Award for Outstanding Student Volunteer; and Megan Norman, winner of the Allan Homes Award for an Outstanding Student Volunteer for 2008. Schnorf is a graduate of Wilde Lake High School. Norman is a graduate of River Hill High School.

The Chesapeake Math Team, coached by Catherine Asaro of Howard County, won national honors in Division B at the 33rd annual American Regions Math League May 31 and took fourth in the nation out of more than 100 teams.
