Theresa and Dominic Tiburzi, of Columbia, announce the engagement of their daughter, Monica Louise Tiburzi, to Michael Fulkerson, son of Linda and Robert Fulkerson, of Wilmington, N.C.

The bride-to-be is a 1999 graduate of Wilde Lake High School. She graduated from Virginia Tech in 2004 with a master's degree in civil engineering and environmental engineering. She is an engineer with CH2M HILL, in Charlotte, N.C.

The future groom is a 1994 graduate of Woodson High School. He graduated from the University of North Carolina, Wilmington in 2000. He is currently attending Charlotte School of Law.

An August wedding is planned.
