Helen and Frank Toews, of Winnipeg, Manitoba, announce the engagement of their daughter, Aynsley Dawn Toews, to Sean Thomas Smith, son of Alexandra and Philip Smith, of Columbia.

The bride-to-be is a graduate of Carman High School, in Carman, Manitoba.

She received a Bachelor of Science degree in 1995 and a bachelor's degree in education in 2006, both from the University of Manitoba. She is currently an education program coordinator for Alberta Environment, in Edmonton, Alberta.

The future groom is a 1989 graduate of Oakland Mills High School.

He received a bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland in 1993. He is the director of government and public relations for the Association of Science Technology Centers, in Washington, D.C.

A summer wedding is planned.
