Summertime lunches are the best. A nice café setting and enjoying your favorite lunchtime food and beverage. What could be better than that? The Historic Savage Mill has just the right setting for a great summertime lunch. On Fridays and Saturday, from noon to 1:30 p.m., Mike's New York Deli is holding a Summer Lunch Concert Series. The opportunity for everyone to take a break from their everyday rush to have a delicious lunch while enjoying some great music. So why not take the break you deserve, while summertime is still here, or take the office crew over to the Historic Savage Mill for a lunch to remember?

I hope everyone enjoyed the block party sponsored by the First Baptist Church of Savage which was held July 30. This outreach event was a hit with the community and many community members and their friends and family came to enjoy food, fun and Christian fellowship.

"The event was a success and although it's a lot of work, it's worth every minute to see the community come together," Pam Nixon said.

The next big outreach event will be the "Movie Night" planned for September. Keep reading for information on this upcoming event.

It is hard to believe that the 2008-2009 school year is just a few short weeks away from beginning. For parents of new children entering Bollman Bridge Elementary School, please mark your calendar for Aug. 22 as there will be an open house at 1 p.m. New students and parents are invited to come and meet the staff of Bollman Bridge Elementary before the big day. So mark your calendars!

With the opening of the 2008-2009 school year, Forest Ridge Elementary School is in need of your volunteer help. The Parents and Teachers Association is looking for volunteers to fill their many vacant positions.

If you are interested in learning more about the vacant positions, or if you already know that you would like to volunteer, please call Shawn Harold at 301-362-4263 or Karen Waters at 301-490-2030.

Both Harold and Waters will be able to provide all the necessary information about the PTA and how you can make a difference.

Happy birthday and happy anniversary to my readers who will celebrate during the upcoming week.
