First Lt. Andrew Kelly, son of John Kelly, of Towson; and Lorraine Kelly, of Columbia, recently returned from a 13-month tour of duty in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. While deployed, Kelly served as a fire support officer with 3-73 Cavalry, a reconnaissance squadron within the 82nd Airborne Division's First Brigade Combat Team. He participated in combat and reconstruction operations in Babel and Al Qadisiyah provinces, Iraq. For his service in Iraq, Kelly received the Army Overseas Service Medal, the Iraq Campaign Medal and the Bronze Star. Kelly is a graduate of Calvert Hall College High School, in Towson; and The Citadel, the Military College of South Carolina, in Charleston.
