GREEN BUILDING:

A mandatory county program requiring:

* New private buildings more than 50,000 square feet to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design guidelines. Property tax credits are available for buildings that meet the higher silver, gold and platinum LEED standards.

* Any building that receives 30 percent of more of its funding from the county and is larger than 10,000 square feet to gain LEED silver certification.

GREEN NEIGHBORHOODS:

A voluntary county program for residential developments:

* Allows developers to gain housing allocations anywhere in the county by following two sets of guidelines, one for the design phase and the other for the construction phase.

* Developers must gain 90 out of 167 points on the "sites" portion dealing with design to gain the allocations. They must receive 46 out of 84 points on the "homes" portion dealing with construction to get a building permit and an eventual occupancy permit.
