Thomas W. Weber Jr.

Thomas William Weber Jr., of Columbia, formerly of Warminster, Pa., died July 17, 2008, at Howard County General Hospital. He was 51.

Born Oct. 2, 1956, in Perth Amboy, N.J., to Thomas William Sr. and Virginia Ann Weber, he graduated from William Tennent High School in Warminster, in 1974.

In 1978, he graduated from the University of Delaware with a Bachelor of Science degree in agriculture. In addition, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in information systems in 1988 and a Master of General Administration degree in 1995, both from the University of Maryland.

He married Jo Cannon in 1980.

Mr. Weber worked as a computer engineer for the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt for almost 30 years.

Family members recall that during his college career, he played football for the University of Delaware and he was a member of the Delta Upsilon Fraternity. He also played first base in the Goddard Softball League, served as an Equal Employment Opportunity officer for Goddard Space Flight Center and was a Huntington Dolphins Master Griller, during which time he prepared food for the concession stand.

In addition, he served as a coach in the Soccer Association of Columbia and the Columbia Basketball Association, was a University of Maryland crew supporter, and a baseball coach in the Atholton Youth Recreation Association.

Mr. Weber was predeceased by his father, Thomas William Weber Sr.

In addition to his wife of 27 years, Jo Weber, he is survived by two sons, Kyle Thomas Weber and Colin Joseph Weber, both of Columbia; his mother, Virginia Ann Weber, of Warminster; four brothers, Timothy Edward Weber, of Raleigh, N.C., Todd Theodore Weber, of Warminster, Kevin Winfred Weber, of Warminster and Craig Joseph Weber, of Greer, S.C.; and a sister, Tamara Jean Schmidt, of Warrington, Pa.

Funeral services were held July 23, 2008, at The Meeting House at Oakland Mills Interfaith Center in Columbia. The Rev. Mark Waddell presided. A reception followed in the Great Room of Savage Mill, in Savage.
