Stephen J. Rozsas

Stephen J. Rozsas, of Polk City, Fla., formerly of Columbia, died Aug. 3, 2008, of kidney failure, at Heart of Florida Hospital, in Polk County. He was 77.

Born Feb. 7, 1931, in Pottstown, Pa., to Stephen J. Sr. and Helen Rozsas, he attended high school in Pottstown.

In 1948, Mr. Rozsas enlisted in the U.S. Air Force and was based in Ohio, where he served as a senior weapons mechanic. He was discharged in 1952 with the rank of staff sergeant. He was awarded a Korean Service Medal and a Good Conduct Medal.

He married Dolores Mowery in 1953.

Mr. Rozsas owned his own business, Columbia Balance Service, in Columbia, for 25 years, where he repaired balances and scales for laboratories. He sold the company and retired in 1986.

He relocated to Florida that same year.

Mr. Rozsas is predeceased by his wife of 46 years, Dolores Rozsas, who died in 1999; a son, George Rozsas; and a daughter, Carol Rhodes.

He is survived by a daughter, Betsy Orr, of Maryland; and eight grandchildren.

A memorial service was held Aug. 6, 2008 at Lake Alfred Methodist Church in Lake Alfred, Fla.
