June E. Bloom

June E. Bloom, of Columbia, died Aug. 4, 2008, at Howard County General Hospital. She was 83.

Born May 15, 1925, in Alberton, now called Daniels, to William S. Martin and Eva R. Jordan, she graduated from Ellicott City High School.

She married Lester Bernard Bloom in 1946.

She worked for Leidigs Bakery and McCroys Five and Dime.

Mrs. Bloom was a member of the Yingling-Ridgely VFW Ladies Auxiliary 7472.

Family members recall that she loved Elvis Presley, playing cards and attending yard sales.

She was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Lester Bernard Bloom, who died in 1987.

Mrs. Bloom is survived by two daughters, June Marie Bell, of Columbia and Beverly D. Suffill, of Pasadena; two sons, William L. Bloom Sr., of Catonsville and Warren Perry Bloom, of Ellicott City; nine grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.

Funeral services were held Aug. 7, 2008, at Slack Funeral Home in Ellicott City. The Rev. L. Katherine Moore, of Emory United Methodist Church, in Ellicott City, presided.

Interment followed at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, in Timonium.
