Thomas J. Smith
Thomas Jay Smith, of Ellicott City, died July 29, 2008, of dementia, at Genesis Eldercare - Randallstown Center, in Randallstown. He was 64.
Born May 20, 1944, in St. Marys, Pa., to John and Caroline Ruprecht Smith, he graduated from high school in St. Marys in 1962.
Mr. Smith graduated from a Catholic university in Pennsylvania in 1966, with a bachelor's degree in accounting.
He married Judy Hauswirth in 1980.
Mr. Smith was employed as a policy analyst for the federal government in the general accounting office in Ellicott City for 29 years. He retired in 1995.
He was predeceased by a brother, John J. Smith; and a sister, Sara "Sally" Smith.
In addition to his wife of 28 years, Mr. Smith is survived by two daughters, Andrea Smith and Rachel Smith, both of Ellicott City; a stepdaughter, Cory Lauer, of Ellicott City; a stepson, Matthew Hauswirth, of Ellicott City; and two grandsons, Brett Lauer and Andrew Lauer, both of Ellicott City.
Memorial services were held Aug. 7, 2008, at Slack Funeral Home in Ellicott City.
