The inaugural Bud Beatty Memorial Swim and Aquatics Day will be held Sunday, Aug. 10 at 10:30 a.m. The swim is from Rocky Point State Park to Hart-Miller Island and back. The Baltimore Blitz field hockey club will hold tryouts Sun., Aug. 10, 9 a.m.-noon, Crofton Skate Zone. Players are needed to form teams in the U-19 girls, U-16 and U-14 and open boys (all ages) categories. U-19 and boys registration opens at 8:45 a.m. Tryouts will be 9-10:30 a.m. U-14 and U-16 registration begins at 10. Tryouts are 10:30 a.m.-noon. There is a $10 registration fee. High school sports
Mt. Hebron High School will hold its fall athletic sign-up Tue., Aug. 12, 4:30-6 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Students trying out for a fall sport at Mt. Hebron should attend and must bring a completed and signed physical examination form, a completed and signed parent permission form (both of which can be downloaded from the hcpss.org Web site), a photocopy of their birth certificate (not required for those who have previously played a sport at Mt. Hebron), a copy of their fourth quarter report card (not required for incoming freshmen) and a copy of proof of residency in the form of either a recent BGE, water or land-line phone bill.
Student candidates for fall sports participation in grades 10-12 must meet the HCPSS academic eligibility policy for extra-curricular participation. Tryouts begin Aug. 16.
